WITH A FIGHTING SPIRIT

Come tour the Newsome House and enjoy a permanent exhibit on the life and times of J. Thomas Newsome and the Newsome family. Take a journey from Newsome’s humble beginnings and his rise as a prominent attorney. Enjoy artifacts from the late 1800s and early 1900s and see how the Newsome House became a museum.

100 YEARS STRONG

Join us as we commemorate the 100th anniversary of Huntington High School, the first Black high school of Newport News. Take a walk down memory lane and peruse through yearbooks as we celebrate this great legacy. Join us for our opening reception on February 8, 2020 at 2 p.m.

The Newsome House

The Newsome House honors the legacy of Joseph Thomas Newsome by engaging the public in an ongoing study and remembrance of African American history and culture.

Friday & Saturday 10 am - 4 pm

All other days by appointment only
